Interlibrary Loans (ILLs)

Can't find the material you need?  Try the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service.

With ILL, you can access the following materials held at other libraries:

  • Books
  • Articles
  • Audio-Visual
  • and more

The cost?  Usually an ILL request is free, but some libraries do charge fees for certain services.  How long does it take?  Expect to wait at least two weeks before material arrives and some requests take longer - plan ahead!

So how do you initiate an ILL request?  We have three easy methods - 1) fill out an online form (see below), 2) use the online catalog, or 3) search an online database yourself and make the request.

The form can be found below this box or can be accessed online here.  Try to provide as much information about the resource as possible: title, author, date, publisher, ISBN, etc.

In the FKCC Online Catalog, enter your search terms and select All 28 Colleges from the search dropdown box.  When you find a resource held at another school, use the Request Item link to initiate an interlibrary loan request.

To search the database yourself, go to the WorldCat via FirstSearch (OCLC) link in Databases A-Z.  For students, faculty, and staff you will need your FKCC ID number (9000XXXXX) as your Borrower ID and your PIN.  For community members, you will need your Library Card number (Borrower ID) and your PIN. (The PIN is a four digit number, usually the last four of your Social Security Number).  Once in the database, there is a dropdown box for searching books (WorldCat), articles (ArticleFirst), and a variety of other materials.  After you find a resource of interest, click the Borrow this item from another library link and complete the form.

Whatever method you choose, your request is transmitted to the Library staff and processed promptly.  You will be contacted if there are questions and as soon as the material arrives.
